A New Icon: the Chevy Volt

Posted by admin on September 23, 2011

Throughout the years, Chevrolet has been known for its innovation and iconic cars. Say vehicles names like the Camaro, Malibu or the Silverado and people instantly know just which bow-tie model you’re talking about. Now Chevy has added another car that’s breaking the mold: the Chevy Volt.

Since hitting lots of lucky dealerships in mid-December of 2010, the auto world has been abuzz about the Volt. What makes it stand out so much? There’s the obvious: it’s the most fuel-efficient compact car in the US according to the EPA. It gets a whopping 93 MPG gasoline equivalent in electric mode and 37 MPG in gasoline-only mode.

Aside from the jaw-dropping fuel efficiency, it’s also got a list of awards that reads like a novel: 2009 Green Car Vision Award, 2011 Motor Trend Car of the Year, 2011 Green Car of the Year, 2011 North American Car of the Year, and 2011 World Green Car.

What really sets the Volt apart from its competitors and the rest of the sedan segment is the fact that it’s not just electric and it’s not just gasoline. The electric motor can power your ride for the first 25 to 50 miles, but unlike other electric cars, it’s not done after just your commute to work. When the electric battery is depleted, it switches to the gas engine. You’re not going to be stuck in traffic with the Volt worrying about whether or not you’ve got enough of a charge to make it to the driveway.

With such high demand for the Volt and demand far outreaching production numbers, St Louis dealerships don’t have any in stock just yet. We love innovation and Chevrolet as much as you which is why we’ll keep you updated alone the way on when we’ll be getting the Volt in stock. Stay tuned!
